Today, we speak with Jordan Edelson, Founder and CEO of Appetizer Mobile, a company specializing in mobile application consulting, development and marketing.
What does “Made in NY™” mean to you and your company?
“Made in NY™” is very important to my company. Operating a company out of NY instills a strong sense of pride. If our company can make it here, it can make it anywhere. It has helped motivate my employees and myself. Even our clients are impressed that we’re a company that is “Made in NYTM.”
What can be done to maximize the “Made in NY™” campaign?
I think there should be video spots filmed about companies and people building businesses in NY, and then feature those videos in local NY media and press. It’ll get the featured company press (which any growing company wants), and at the same time highlight the “Made in NY™” campaign. More companies will want to be part of the program knowing that NY is behind them and will help get the word out about their business.
What else can be done to promote early stage entrepreneurship in NYC?
Offering programs where “Made in NY™” sponsors trips for early stage entrepreneurs to visit and meet CEOs of “Made in NY™” businesses and get a chance to see how the companies are run would definitely be inspirational. People need to see New York companies succeeding in person and experience their work environments. That would be very powerful.
Where does your company fit in the ecosystem?
Appetizer Mobile has a clientele of about 60 percent startups. We work with our clients at a very early ideation phase and help turn their vision into a reality in the mobile space. We partner with our clients on an equity-based level so costs become affordable to our clients (very important for startups) and offer them a full-service agency that can take their idea from conception, through development, to launch with an execution plan for success. Startups are what drive innovation and advancements across the board. If we can help even a small percentage make it, we’ve done our job.
