NYC SeedStart, the accelerator arm of NYC Seed, is back with a new class and they are focused on the enterprise…
Today we hear from Nis Frome, Co-Founder and COO of Hublished, a community for businesses and professionals to share, explore, and curate webinars and eBooks. Hublished was founded in 2012 by students and alumni from NYU and Rutgers with the mission of simplifying and streamlining the content marketing process.
Tell us about the decision to apply for NYC SeedStart.
We were previously underwhelmed with the B2B infrastructure in NYC. Most of the conferences and accelerators are narrowly focused on sexy, consumer technologies, and did not understand our business. NYC SeedStart provided a unique B2B specialty, which was obviously very attractive to us. Their mentors understood our market and technology, so it was a no-brainer that NYC SeedStart was the program we wanted to be in.
Tell us about your product/service.
Hublished is a community for businesses and professionals to share and discover webinars, whitepapers, and other business content. We want to cut through the enormous amount of clutter, and provide a channel for curating and accessing expert content.
What market are you attacking and how big is it?
We are attacking the enormous and growing content marketing industry. Budgets for content marketing have increased in the last year alone from 26% to 33% of the overall budget. Estimates place content marketing as being a $40 billion market. The fragmentation in the market makes this a difficult number to verify.
What are you hoping to get out of the program and where do you see your company fitting in the New York landscape?
We are hoping to get key partnerships, mentors, and networking. We see ourselves as part of the small but growing group of NYC tech companies disrupting what are typically considered “boring” industries.
