Many of us can likely attest to the presence of the “annoying Facebook friend,” ever-vigilant at sending Farmville requests and constantly reblogging irrelevant memes. While it might be acceptable for individuals to misuse their own social media outlets, there are definitely implicit guidelines that businesses should follow when implementing social media into their business strategies.

Using social media properly is vital for business growth. Businesses should, among other things, be good listeners to their customers, be consistent and create measurable goals, all through social media. It is also important to avoid being pushy or use generic marketing techniques.
