There comes a time in everyone’s life when they say “what am I doing with my life?” Perhaps you have been in the same job since you left school, maybe the daily grind is getting too much for you, or maybe the thought of doing this same job for the rest of your life fills you with dread. Whilst LOVING your job might be a bit of a longshot, spending most of your life doing something you hate is not the way forward. Life is too short so if you are feeling disillusioned with your work, now is the time to change. Grab the proverbial bull by the horns and swing into action. You can do whatever you put your mind to so get in the right frame of mind and get out there and see what the world has to offer!

  1. Check out TruckDrivingJobs.com

How about a career where you get to enjoy your own company, drive through the beautiful scenery and see the country, and take big long holidays in between jobs? Sound like heaven? Then why not consider being a truck driver? The pay is fantastic, there will be no arguments about what music to listen to in the office, or how high the AC must be, and you don’t have to deal with a boss breathing down your neck.

  1. Go back to school

Yes, I know university fees are through the roof these days and a lot of people cannot afford the tuition and the time off work to study full time but there are other options to you. Have you considered distance learning? You can study online or at home as and when you please and at your own pace. Or why not enrol in a vocational evening course? There are so many courses around such as languages, business, accounting, woodwork, music, IT, and more. Pretty much anything that you want to study, you are sure to find the right one for you.

  1. Take a break

Many workplaces understand that pressures of modern life and that sometimes people need to step back and take a break. That is why lots of businesses offer career breaks or sabbaticals to long term employees. Basically, the employee can take long term leave, usually 6 months- 1 year and then return to their role at the end of it. Whilst not particularly common, they are a fantastic way for employees to step back and reevaluate their life, work, and what they want for the future. You could study, travel the world, or even just take it easy and focus on you or your family life.

  1. Turn your hobby into something that will make you money

Someone once told me that if you can turn your hobby and something you are good at and enjoy into a career, then you are sorted for life. What do you really enjoy doing? It can be a hobby such as writing, cooking, or woodwork. What are you good at? It could be getting things to work, fixing things, dealing with people, or helping others. Put some serious thought into this and see if you can find something that will combine the lot- that is where you will make money and enjoy your work!

These are just a couple of tips for you to consider next time that you think your job is boring or you want to click snooze permanently on your alarm clock. Don’t let life bring you down, make the best of it!
