Announcing our March Meetup Speakers:

(1) JOSH SHABTAI: Co-Founder & Creative Director, lm/nl

Josh is a game designer, interactive marketing pioneer and sci-fi geek. As creative director of lm/nl, he’s building game experiences and platforms that promise new breakthroughs in player immersion.

lm/nl partnered with Hasbro in 2012 to create Lazer Tag: AR, a hybrid toy blaster/iOS application and the world’s first real-life first person shooter. Earlier, the company created Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner, the first AR Star Wars game. In 2012, Josh took home a Cannes Gold Lion and Gold Clio for Band-Aid Magic Vision: Starring the Muppets, which transformed everyday bandages into media experiences for parents and kids to share.

(2) Eric Weissman: Co-Founder & CIO, Internet Media Labs

Eric is a Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer for Internet Media Labs, where he leverages his arsenal of intellectual property, programming code, systems, process, and knowhow to innovate, prototype and develop leading edge social media and other Web based automated technologies.

(3) Peter Bordes: Co-Founder, Internet Media Labs

Internet Media Labs #TheLabNYC develops technology that focuses on relevance, the social web and the social enterprise, and is a collaborative community for startups, entrepreneurs, innovative technology companies, LabChats & events. Home for knowledge-seekers and out-of-the-box thinkers passionate in their quest to effect change through creativity. (4) Matthew Quint:  Director, Columbia Business School’s Center on Global Brand Leadership

Matthew Quint is the leading global forum on branding issues for researchers and executives. Matthew is the co-producer of the Center’s acclaimed BRITE Conference series which brings together over 400 big thinkers in industry and academia to discuss how innovation and technology help build strong brands. He also works with senior executives from various leading companies — including Coach, Deloitte, Edelman, Google, SAP, and Visa — to conduct research, produce events, and promote knowledge sharing among branding and marketing professionals.

 

(5) James Vasile: Organizer, OpenITP.org

James Vasile is the Director of the Open Internet Tools Project, which supports development of anti-censorship and anti-surveillance tools. He is a partner at Open Tech Strategies, which advises organizations and businesses as they navigate the open-source world. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Software Freedom Law Center, where he acts as a strategic advisor on a range of free software efforts. James has helped boot up a number of free software organizations, including the FreedomBox Foundation, Open Source Matters, and the Software Freedom Conservancy. His FreedomBox work has been recognized by an Innovation Award at Contact Summit 2011, as well as an Ashoka ChangeMaker’s award for Citizen’s Media.
