Today we speak with Kelly Hoey, one of the founders of WIM (Women Innovate Mobile)
There are a lot of opportunities for motivated, driven people to have an impact and contribute to the NYC tech scene.
What do you see happening over the next 3-5 years?
What I’d like to see are more exits (IPO, M&A) – and then having those founders start new ventures or start actively investing in the next wave of NYC innovation.
What do you see as challenges?
Funding continues to be a challenge.
Where does your company fit in the ecosystem?
We’re a startup accelerator looking to invest in the next big [mobile] thing.
WIM is also orchestrating a startup funding & pitch event on April 22,, 2013 and you don’t have to be a mobile applications company or have a female founder/co-founder on your team to apply pitch at this event. Behind the Pitch is a market-focused event for startups, providing current data on fund raising and financing of early-stage ventures, as well as the status of VC/Angel funding and funding insights/trends by region and sector.
Behind The Pitch is an opportunity to hear from founders (Songza, Nail Your Mortgage + others) who have successfully raised funding for their ventures and to gain insights from the Pitch Pit of VCs, angels, accelerators, incubators and startup advisors. And an opportunity for you to pitch your startup! The deadline to apply to pitch is March 31st.
