Each week we bring you a handy guide to just a few of the events we think should not be missed. On any given night, there are too many events. You can’t attend all of them and neither should you, unless you’re a career socialite. For the week of May 13th – May 18th, here are our suggestions for navigating the scene:
Monday: 5/13/2013
Discussion Series: The Founders’ & Funders’ Dilemma
6:00PM – 8:30PM
$15
12 E53rd Street @ LIM College
Our friends at OS Fashion have put this excellent event together to facilitate a lively discussion between the funders and founders specifically relating to establishing a brand and how that fits into the investment picture. Learn straight from not only the perspective of entrepreneurs but also the investors.
Wednesday: 5/15/2013
Entrepreneurs Roundtable 58
5:30PM – 8:30PM
Free
1290 6th Avenue @ Microsoft
Entrepreneurs Roundtable offers an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs to pitch their startups in front of a panel of reputable investors and audience members. The format consists of timed pitches, questions from both the investors and the audience, and highly valuable feedback from the panel. Even if you are not interested in pitching, there is value in attending, as you get a very good idea of what the pitch process is like in front of New York City based investors.
Meet The Innovators: The Venture Capitalists
7:00PM – 8:00PM
Free
103 Prince Street @ Apple Store Soho
Our friends at Women Innovate Mobile host an evening of discussion with prominent VC’s from Greycroft Partners, DFJ Gotham Ventures, Comcast Ventures, and Starvest Partners at the Apple Store. The caliber and quality of these VC’s in one room at the same time makes this an event you will not want to miss.
Saturday: 5/18/2013
Make Wall Street Bloom (no link, just show up)
10-AM-12PM
Free
Wall Street Park between Water and South Street
While we normally cover include the events driving the thriving startup and technology landscape in New York, our friends at Downtown Alliance are holding an event on Saturday to help spruce up the park by having New Yorkers plant flowers. Get away from the computer on Saturday morning and get some fresh air while helping beautify New York. Light refreshments will be served from Whole Foods.
