Today, we speak with Alejandro Cremades, Founder and CEO of RockThePost, a crowdfunding platform aimed at connecting entrepreneurs and small businesses with accredited investors who wish to invest their money or resources in startups.
What does “Made in NYTM” mean to you and your company?
“Made in NY” is a great initiative. For us participating in the program makes us very proud. We feel very lucky to be able to build a company in the city of New York. This city is full of talent and we strongly feel that we could have not developed a company like RockThePost anywhere else.
What can be done to maximize the “Made in NYTM” campaign?
It all comes down to education. I also feel that the city should encourage entrepreneurship and guide many of the professionals working at large corporations to take the leap of faith in order to start their own business. These individuals need to know that the government is backing their projects and that they are not alone. For the city of New York it is critical to embrace entrepreneurship as startup companies create over 3 million jobs every year in the US while large corporations are loosing 1 million jobs.
What else can be done to promote early stage entrepreneurship in NYC?
The government should establish programs that grant capital to early stage startups. This will foster and embrace the community of startups as right now it is very hard to raise capital. There should be additional resources that guide the entrepreneur towards the right direction in order to obtain financing and also other resources that will help in developing the business further.
Where does your company fit in the ecosystem?
RockThePost is an investment crowdfunding platform for startups where we connect entrepreneurs with investors. There is a lot of talent out there that can’t get in front of the right investors, and that is where we come in. Via our service we help startups raise the necessary capital at an early stage in order to build a business.
