Barry Silbert is the founder and CEO of Digital Currency Group, the platform that launches, acquires, and invests in digital currency and blockchain technology companies. Founded in 2015, the company has already made over 75 investments and has 4 exits in its portfolio. Silbert’s tenure in fintech facilitated investment from a number of prominent venture firms including Bain Capital, Firstmark, and RRE in DCG and James D. Robinson and Lawrence Lenihan sit on its investment committee.
Prior to DCG, Silbert founded SecondMarket, the prominent liquidity platform for private company shares that was acquired by NASDAQ in 2015 for an undisclosed sum.
Previously an investment banker at Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin.
