MIP Diagnostics Ltd is as a spin out from the University of Leicester by several leading experts in the field, including Prof. Sergey Piletsky, in order to commercialise various forms of Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs), sometimes called “plastic antibodies”. The proprietary technology includes a novel method to make nanoMIPs which circumvents the drawbacks of traditional MIP manufacturing methods. NanoMIPS are, as the name suggests, nanostructured polymer particles typically containing a single binding site for their target. Founded by Antonio Guerreiro in 2015, MIP Diagnostics is backed by investors that include Mercia Fund Managers, Downing Ventures, Calculus Capital, BGF Ventures, and David Evans and is headquartered in Leicester.
