Analyzing some publicly available data from our friends at CrunchBase, we break down the national aggregate statistics for all funding deals by stage of funding (Angel/Seed, Series A, Series B, and Series C+).

Key Takeaways:

The number of deals in New York and nationally slightly fell during the month of August which to expected given the summer holiday.  Valuations on deal size returned to more appropriate levels in the month of August versus July where the average early stage deal size was over $1.6M both nationally and in NYC.

There was another slight decrease in the number of Series B deals as is to be expected because of the summer.  However, the checks that were written were of larger sizes in Series B deals nationally as aggregate funding was up nearly 25%.
