Marissa Campise is the most recent VC to join the team at SoftBank Capital, where she has been a partner since June 2014. Her investment focus has been on Internet and digital media.

Since earning her Bachelor’s degree from Yale University (where she paid her way through as a single mother), Campise has become a prominent investor in digital media and tech.

Her investing career began at Deloitte & Touche, where she served briefly as a Collateral Analyst in 2007 before moving to Greycroft Partners as a Senior Associate, and later as principal. She left Greycroft in 2011 to serve as Vice President for Venrock.

Outside her VC roles, Marissa developed E-Learning courses for the Adult Education Center in New Haven and is a Hatha Yoga instructor.

Memorable Quotes:
On learning from a failed startup: “Sometimes the best learning is just rolling up your sleeves and diving in.”
On earning a spot at Venrock: “I think of Venrock as a place that I can really learn and grow from amazing VCs,” she says.  “I’m honored that they even found me interesting enough to want to work with!”
On rising through the VC ranks: “I think about a long term career that allows me to find good people and build great businesses. I never think, will I be this title or that title, I think about enriching myself and being my best. It sounds cheesy, but I’m a mother and I tell my son the same thing.  You should always have end goals and put your best foot forward, but I do believe that process matters.”
