Inverse, the media company directed at millennial males, has raised $6M in Series A funding led by Crosslink Capital with participation from BDMI, Bialla Venture Partners, Social Starts and Vast Ventures. This is the company’s second round of funding.
AppNexus, the advertising software company, has raised $31M from lead investor News Corp., with help from Yahoo! Japan. The company raised a Series F round last year and has totaled $319M in funding.
Our friends at Canaan Partners had several personnel movements within the venture firm this week. Brendan Dickinson has been named a partner. Brendan has been focused on building the firm’s fintech portfolio. Michael Gilroy, who joined the firm in 2014, has been named a Principal.
Kustomer, the company that lets you track customer engagement, has raised $10M in a Series A round of funding from lead investor Canaan Partners, with participation from Jeffrey Leventhal, Plug and Play, George Hu, Alex Bard and BoxGroup. Founders Jeremy Suriel and Brad Birnbaum have now raised $12.5M over 2 rounds.
Umi Kitchen, the home cooked dinner delivery service, has raised $1.4M in Seed funding for the company’s first round. Investors included Zach Weinberg, Noah Glass, Nat Turner, Hayley Barna, Ed Mathias, Elizabeth Cutler, BoxGroup, Version One Ventures, Danny Meyer, SWTLF Ventures, YEI Innovation Fund, Allen Cutler, Henrik Werdelin, Chris Muscarella and Mark Gerson.
FreshDirect, the grocery delivery company, has raised $189M in a Private Equity round led by J.P. Morgan Asset Management, with participation from AARP and W Capital Partners. Founders Jason Ackerman and David McInerney have raised $280M over the company’s 4 rounds.

LiquidSky the software for optimal gaming, has raised $4M in Seed funding led by Samsung Global Innovation Center, Bill Raduchel and Scott McNealy. This is the company’s first round of funding.
LoftSmart Inc., the company helping college students find housing, has raised $1.7M in Series A funding. Corigin Ventures led the round with additional participation from Jeffrey Berman, Jaffray Woodriff, Full Tilt Capital, MetaProp NYC and Expansion Venture Capital. This is the company’s second round of funding.
KidPass, the discovery platform for children activities, has raised $1.2M in Seed funding for the company’s first round. Investors in the round included Jere Doyle, Dimitry Foux, Rick Bank, Ignacio Muñoz, Nina Cherny, Gidi Fisher, Cocoon Ignite Ventures, David S. Kidder, Lee Wang, Timothy Chi, Thomas Lehrman, Thought into Action Ventures, Kevin Ryan, Stephano Kim, Rugged Ventures, Bionic Fund and CoVenture.
Sidestep, the company giving you all access to concert merchandise, has raised $150K in Seed funding from Parkwood Entertainment. The company has raised 3 rounds to date.
Concord Systems, the provider of technology for processing data at scale was acquired by Akamai Technologies in an all cash transaction. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
QuiO, the provider of smart injection devices, has raised a $1M Seed round from undisclosed investors for the company’s first round.
Establishment Labs, the next generation aesthetics company, has raised $15M in Debt Financing led by JW Asset Management and Perceptive Advisors, with participation from Relativity. The company has raised $35M over their 2 rounds.
