The Number One Question to Ask During Periods of Growth

So, your business is growing. Fast. It’s taking off and doing so well, you’re not sure how to manage it. That is tremendous, right? You’re probably pretty pumped up that something you put so much time into is doing so well.

But there is usually another side to it. In the time that your business is growing and expanding, you’re confronted with a choice: Do you perfect the system that your business is built on? Or…do you work on building up the team and figure out logistics later?

My friends, the answer is simple.

Why not both?

This is one of the biggest takeaways I want everyone to understand about how I do business. When times are good, you don’t make sacrifices. You take advantage of the fact that times are good. And I can promise you that it works. I did both. Yep. When I was building my agency VaynerMedia, I did both.

It’s not an either/or situation; this is where people struggle. To be victorious in business, you need to be able to do both. That is what separates the real entrepreneurs from the fake ones. The ability to be able to do both at the same time will be the greatest skill you can cultivate for yourself.

This is where hustle comes in. You integrate your team nine to five, and from five to two in the morning you perfect the system. Hustle matters. Those extra hours are everything during this time. Do not waste them. Are you actually using every single second in a day that you can?

Remember this: too many people have missed their moment in time. So when it’s happening for you, if you don’t triple pedal, if you don’t go all-the-hell-in, you will regret it forever.

Extract as much value as you can when you hit that point. Live it. Breathe it.

So, when you ask me “this or that” questions, team building or skill refining, sales or marketing, scale growth or build the system…the answer is always going to be both. Do both. Got it?
