Ferring Pharmaceuticals, the privately owned Swiss specialty biopharma group, has signed an agreement to acquire Gameto, a cell-engineering biotech focused on women’s reproductive health, in a deal valued at up to $1.3825B. The price is tied to development, regulatory, and commercial milestones, and closing remains subject to customary conditions. Until then, the two companies will operate independently. The deal would pair Gameto’s science with Ferring’s global reproductive-medicine footprint. Gameto’s In Vitro Maturation program is investigational in the U.S. and has not been approved by the FDA.
“This is a defining moment for Gameto and for our mission to transform reproductive health. By combining our pioneering cell-engineering platform with Ferring’s deep expertise and global reach in reproductive medicine, we have an extraordinary opportunity to accelerate innovation, expand access and bring more modern fertility treatment options to women and families around the world,” remarked Dr. Dina Turner, CEO and cofounder of Gameto.

Gameto’s lead program, Fertilo, uses engineered cells to improve how eggs mature for IVF. It is already being used in clinics in Australia and Latin America, and a Phase 3 trial is underway in the U.S., with preliminary results expected in late 2026. Beyond fertility, the company is developing menopause therapies through its Ameno program, which has received funding from ARPA-H.
